I have heard many unhinged speeches by American presidents over the years, but — no risk of exaggeration here — Donald Trump’s as he declared “a spectacular military success” after seven B–2 bombers attacked three nuclear sites in Iran Saturday night is the barmiest of my lifetime.
“The nuclear threat posed by the world’s No. 1 state sponsor of terror?” “The bully of the Middle East?” There was this by way of a plunge into the crowded precincts of American paranoia:
“They have been killing our people, blowing off their arms, blowing off their legs with roadside bombs. That was their specialty. We lost over a thousand people and hundreds of thousands throughout the Middle East and around the world have died as a direct result of their hate.”
And for the good people out in Peoria, a decisive majority of whom, the polls say, oppose American aggression against the Islamic Republic: “I want to just say, we love you, God, and we love our great military.”
Let me remind readers, as rhetoric this base makes it easy to forget: The speaker of these words is the 47th president of the United States. Yes, the commander-in-chief.
It is difficult to take Trump’s four minutes in front of the microphone late Saturday evening the slightest bit seriously. But we must, precisely because what Trump had to say to his nation was so utterly unserious.
Donald Trump, to put this point another way, turns out to be worse than Donald Trump.
It is natural, for those with some sense of history to compare Trump’s my-God-and-my-military talk with the more craven moments of the McCarthyist 1950s, or with the John Birchers. I say it is more useful to think of that famous remark Karl Rove made during an interview conducted by Ron Suskind a year and seven months after the Bush II regime invaded Iraq.
“Faith, Certainty and the Presidency of George W. Bush” was published in The New York Times Sunday Magazine in October 2004. Suskind identifies Rove, then an adviser to the Bush White House, as “the aide,” but it was soon enough known it was he Suskind had interviewed.
The memorable passage in the Suskind piece is this:
“Guys like me were ‘in what we call the reality-based community,’ which he defined as people who ‘believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.’ … ‘That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors … and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”
America had by then given Iraqis and the rest of the world a bitter display of what results when a nation purports to conjure realities to its liking. Trump now takes on the same preposterous project, as the ungrounded language cited above indicates.
Bush II failed extravagantly in Iraq, and Trump’s new adventure cannot but come to the same fate.
Creating reality, as if the irreducible foundations of cognition and logic are mere irritants to be set aside, may look like the very zenith of hubristic power. It is not.
Reverberations of 9/11
The Iraq invasion and the bombing of Iran are to be read as acts of desperation — the conduct of a wounded, uncertain nation that assumed the defensive crouch when the Twin Towers went down in 2001 and history arrived on its shores — history, that process America all along thought was the burden of others.
We must bear this always in mind. Desperation is the mulch wherein recklessness germinates.
“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” Trump declared Saturday evening. Does this remind you of anything?
Maybe Bush II’s ridiculous appearance, in a bomber jacket no less after landing on board, to declare on an aircraft carrier off San Diego a few days after the Iraq invasion began, “Mission accomplished?” An infamous bit of staging,
We are already well down from “completely and totally.” By Sunday morning the Pentagon was trading in “severe damage,” catch-all vocabulary such that there is no telling what it means.
Casting further doubt on the state of matters, a digital publication called Amwaj.media reported Sunday afternoon that Washington had advised Tehran in advance of its intent to bomb and indicated the limits of its targeting. Citing “a high-ranking Iranian political source,” Amwaj said this source “also confirmed that the targeted sites were evacuated, with ‘most’ of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium kept in secure locations.”
Amwaj.media has its head office in Britain and publishes news and comment on West Asia in Arabic, Farsi and English. I cannot verify this report, but I am not at all inclined to discount it. It conforms, certainly, with the Trump regime’s vigorous efforts to stress that it does not seek a full-out war with the Islamic Republic.
“We have no idea where this war will go,” The New York Times declared in the headline atop an opinion piece published in its Sunday editions. “It may appear like a tactical victory less than four hours after the bombs began to fall,” W.J. Hennigan writes, “but projecting any sense of finality about this ordeal is wildly premature.”
This is so by way of facts on the ground, as the expression goes. It is certainly unclear how “the Jewish state” will take it if Iran’s nuclear program has been damaged but remains extant. The Zionist fanatics who started all this seem willing to settle for nothing short of Trump’s “completely and totally.”
But I see finality aplenty when I turn the weekend’s events 180° and consider them from this perspective. Whatever the destruction at Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz by way of the “bunker busters” those B–2s dropped, the damage the Trump regime has done to itself and the nation it pretends to govern is nearly too extravagant to reckon.
Remember “Nous sommes tous Américains,” that celebrated headline atop an editorial Le Monde published shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks? I did not then think the United States had enjoyed the world’s approval so unreservedly for decades.
The slide began two years later, with Bush II’s wanton, unquestionably illegal invasion of Iraq. The policy cliques could not since have squandered the residual good will of the postwar decades more efficiently had they tried.
It was not a question of trying, of course. It has been a question since 2001 of those planning and executing U.S. policy simply not giving a damn what the rest of the world thinks — or wanting even to know what the rest of the world thinks.
Power Is All
Trump just decisively clarified the point, in my judgment. Nothing other than power matters to the Americans now. If this has been true since 2001, Trump makes clear there is no turning back from this: Power is all the United States has left to give the world — or impose upon it.
“There’s no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight, not even close,” Trump declared triumphantly Saturday night. “There has never been a military that could do what took place just a little while ago.”
What a thing to boast of. So hopelessly out of sync with the 21st century. No, no other military could have done what the American did at the weekend, and no other military would ever be sent on such a mission.
I cannot imagine what some metric of global good will toward America would register now that Trump has led the United States into what looks like another war. If “completely and totally obliterated” were on the dial, the needle would be close.
As widely reported, Trump colluded with the Israelis to deceive Tehran with the suggestion that talks toward a diplomatic settlement of the nuclear question would proceed in Oman two Sundays ago. And as the Iranians prepared for another round of negotiations, Israel launched its attacks the preceding Friday.
Sucker-punching. This now seems part of America’s diplomatic repertoire.
It is hard to believe any American administration would be this craven, but Trump did the same thing again when he stated last week he would take two weeks to give diplomacy a last chance. It was a matter of a few days before the B–2s flew.
When Seymour Hersh predicted this in “What I have been told is coming in Iran,” published in his Substack newsletter last Friday, I confess I thought Sy’s neck was out a touch too far this time. I leave readers to finish the thought.
The Washington policy cliques have been more or less indifferent to statecraft for decades. Diplomacy is for the weak nations, the powerful having no need of it, former U.N. chief Boutros Boutros Ghali wrote insightfully in his memoirs. Trump just burned the bridges diplomats are supposed to build — all of them.
Who — the Russians, the Chinese, the Africans, the Latin Americans, the Europeans, the East Asians, the Indians — who will engage the Americans diplomatically any longer but with deep suspicions, deep reservations, and a profound reluctance to trust? Not to mention a well of contempt.
This is grave far beyond the Iranians, in my view. Contrary to appearances these past 25 years, diplomacy is an essential 21st century technology. B–2s and bunker busters do not seem so to me. High-technology weaponry is deployed at an ever-rising cost.
Incessant breaches of international law, cavalier abuses of the sovereignty of other nations: This will go on for who knows how long. But Trump and his people and the neoconservatives who appear to control them just went some distance destroying all possibility that the U.S. might participate in the making of a new world order.
This matters nil in Washington now, but such an order materializes as we speak, and the day will come when this foreclosed prospect will be up for regret.
I read something else in Trump’s Saturday night speech. To me it was the culmination of weeks of irrationality, a frenzy of it that led — just as the Israelis hoped it would — to senseless attacks with no logical justification.
There seems to me another kind of finality to what Trump just did. He has destroyed — completely and totally, I fear to say — rational thought as the basis of action in the name of what historians of our time will record as a rear-guard defense of raw power.
A late-phase imperium cannot do what Trump just did and then return to sound deliberations, measured policy, sophisticated statecraft. I do not now see a path to any such return.
America has long been — since 2001, again — on the way into an era of unreality, as we may as well call it. Trump just gave the nation a final shove and slammed the door behind it, to put my point another way.
When the bunker busters fell Saturday night the Trump regime created a reality all right. Look at it. Take a hard look. This is essential if some new direction is to be discovered.

Well I am hearing from various sources (folks who a regularly on the internet) that Trump gave Iran a heads up (maybe through Russia, maybe not. The Iranians moved all their stuff and the damage was cosmetic.) To follow up, your list ignores one thing: Trump is meant to rally the masses, especially the white ones, to serve Israel. He must also portray a leader of the final Edom. For once Trump did the right thing. Facing defeat, he declared victory and went home. Israel does not have the ability to take out Iran’s nuclear buildings. Most probably, Trump gave Iran advance warning, so that Iran could save their people. So this is a plus for Trump. Just as Trump made a deal with the Houthis that left out Israel, Netanyahu will be fuming, but there is nothing he can do about it.

I hope the early intelligence assessment of the damage done to Iran’s nuclear program is correct in estimating that the program was set back only a few months. Trump may insist otherwise, but Trump is usually clueless.
If the limited damage assessment is accurate, then there’s some good news to consider. Trump is not likely to attack Iran again — at least not for the same stated reason. If he does order another attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, then he’ll look like an idiot for having already publicly insisted that Iran’s nuclear program has been obliterated. Being an egomaniac who does not like the taste of crow, it’s hard to imagine Trump getting up in front of the American people and saying, “I was wrong about Iran. They’re still close to developing nukes. We have to bomb them once more.”
If the US does bomb Iran again, it’ll probably be due to an Israeli false flag attack on the US or some other pretext. But the Iranians will likely be even better prepared for the next attack. They’re not likely to get caught off-guard again, and any new nuclear sites could be even more hardened than the ones that were just bombed. Their internal security could be tightened up quite a bit as well.

As you know, a ceasefire has been announced in the Middle East. Many of you are curious about what this means. Well, I still believe that the United States, Israel, and Iran are fully committed to war. The ceasefire is really about shaping the narrative around the war—trying to control the terms, trying to determine how the war will be fought.
For Iran, for the Ayatollah, it’s very important that the Iranian people understand that Iran is being forced into this war. In his speech to the Iranian people right after the U.S. bombing, he framed it this way: Iran is a nation dedicated to peace; the United States is a nation dedicated to war. The Iranian people live the truth; the American people tell the lie. The Iranian people will do all they can to achieve peace—but if forced to defend their sovereignty, their faith, then they will fight to the death. The Iranian people will never surrender. But if an opportunity for peace presents itself, they will grasp it.
Trump did launch the attacks against Iran, but he’s trying to create the narrative that he’s being forced into it—by the globalists, the deep state, the American empire. He portrays himself as someone who only aspires for world peace. But the warmongers, the neocons in his administration, who are embedded in the deep state and have tentacles around the world, are undermining him and forcing his hand. He claims he’s fighting for the American people, fighting for world peace, and that’s why he’s working hard to broker a peace deal between Israel and Iran.
Both Trump and the Ayatollah can position themselves as peacemakers because they know that Netanyahu will continue to push for war—that Israel will continue to be the aggressor. So Israel becomes the scapegoat. But it’s important to understand: all three leaders—Trump, the Ayatollah, and Netanyahu—are committed to war, each for different reasons.
So in today’s talk, I want to explain what’s really driving these three individuals. Why are they committed to war? What do they want from it?
To understand this, I want to introduce a new concept: the messianic calling. Each of these individuals—Trump, the Ayatollah, and Netanyahu—sees himself as a historical messianic figure. They believe they are on a mission from God to save the world, to save their people, to lead their nations into a kind of Promised Land.
We need to understand that this—not fame, not power—is what truly drives them. So let me explain what this messianic calling is by outlining its three major characteristics.
First, when you truly believe you are on a mission from God, that you are the chosen one, the prophet, that God smiles upon you—you gain access to what I call divine energy.
What is divine energy?
Imagine you’re a mother taking your three-year-old into the forest. If you get lost and a black bear pounces on you, your maternal instinct kicks in. Even if you’re small or weak, you will find limitless strength and courage to fight off the bear—and succeed. This has been documented. A mother’s love for her child is one of the strongest forces in the world.
To understand divine energy, multiply that love by a million. That’s how energized, motivated, and powerful someone with a messianic calling feels.
Take Trump. During his campaign season, he’d wake up at 4 or 5 a.m., tweet, watch TV, get on a plane, give a two-hour speech, fly to another city, give another speech to 50,000 people, then watch the news, go to bed, and wake up the next day to do it all over again—for months.
Why? He’s 79. He eats McDonald’s constantly. He’s obese. But none of it matters, because he believes—truly believes—that God has chosen him to fulfill a mission. That belief fills him with infinite energy. That’s where his strength comes from.
Second, people with a messianic calling are absolutely fearless. They believe that because God has chosen them, God will protect them. No bullets can harm them.
Remember Trump at Butler, Pennsylvania—he was nearly assassinated. The bullet came close, but he got up, pumped his fist, and yelled “Fight! Fight! Fight!” That’s absolute fearlessness. They believe they are among the elect. Even if they die, they’ll go straight to Heaven. Their bodies no longer matter—they are merely vessels for divine energy on Earth.
When these vessels break, their followers receive that energy. They become martyrs. They become ideas. Their faith, their inspiration, becomes immortal. They are eternal. They are invincible.
Third, the persecution complex. How do you know God has chosen you? Because society hates you. Because the world persecutes you.
Trump survived two impeachments. His cabinet was filled with deep state actors—Bolton, Pompeo, Nikki Haley—who undermined him. Generals bragged about disobeying his orders. One, Mark Milley, even told the Chinese: “Don’t listen to Trump—he’s not in charge. Call us directly.”
The media lambasted him daily. World leaders laughed at him—remember when German officials mocked him at the UN for warning about Nord Stream?
After leaving office, they raided Mar-a-Lago. They tried to bankrupt him. They’re trying to imprison him on spurious charges. But all this persecution only energizes him. It proves to him that God is testing him, forging him, filling him with divine energy.
Same with the Ayatollah. Mossad—the most sophisticated intelligence agency on Earth—is hunting him. The U.S. military—the most powerful in history—is targeting him. He’s 86. But he feels ecstatic. He’s never felt more alive, more energized, more vibrant. The moment he’s been waiting for all his life—the chance to kill the Great Satan—is finally here.
Same with Netanyahu. His country is divided. He and his family face corruption charges. He’s only immune as long as he remains in office. Once the war ends, prison likely awaits. But he’s not fazed. This persecution only strengthens his belief that he’s been chosen. And it gives him the faith to fulfill his mission.
So now, let’s talk about what each of these three individuals believes their divine mission actually is.
Let’s begin with the Ayatollah—because his case is the most straightforward.
The Persians’ belief system is a fusion of Zoroastrianism and Shi’a Islam.
Zoroastrianism is the world’s first eschatological religion. It offers moral clarity. The universe is divided between good and evil, between light and darkness, between truth and lies. This dualism is baked into the very structure of the cosmos.
These two forces—good and evil—have been at war since the beginning of time. Eventually, they will meet in a final climactic battle. At that point, we humans must choose which side to fight for.
Will we fight for good—or for evil?
The Ayatollah believes he must unite the Muslim world to fight on the side of good. He sees the Great Satan—the United States—and its vassal, Israel, as the embodiment of evil.
Shi’a Islam also reinforces this worldview. It is a religion that glorifies suffering, persecution, and sacrifice. If you truly believe, you will suffer. If you truly believe, you will sacrifice yourself.
And the Ayatollah is willing to die. For him, death in service to this faith is the highest possible honor.
So what does he want?
He wants to lure the Great Satan into Iran—into his lair—where he can raise his flaming sword and kill it. By killing the Great Satan, he believes he will free his people from oppression and suffering. By killing the Great Satan, he believes he will save the world.
That’s the Ayatollah’s divine mission.
Now let’s turn to Donald Trump.
Trump’s divine mission is to “Make America Great Again.” But why isn’t America great?
According to him, America hasn’t been great for the past 100 years. Why? Because it has been co-opted by globalists.
These globalists have dragged America into endless foreign wars—wars in the Middle East that have killed thousands of good American soldiers. And these wars, Trump believes, were not for American interests, but for the globalists.
These globalists also opened America’s borders—allowing millions of illegal immigrants to enter, undermining civil society.
They also rewrote the school curriculum, infesting it with multiculturalism, DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion), and woke politics.
To Trump, these ideas—globalism, liberalism, multiculturalism—are cancers on the American Republic.
And you don’t negotiate with cancer. You don’t wait for cancer to disappear. You purge it—with blood and fire.
So what is Trump’s divine mission?
To destroy the American Empire by dragging it into an unwinnable war against Iran—thereby triggering a national awakening.
He wants to compel the American people to rise up, overthrow their globalist overlords, and reclaim the Republic.
Once that happens, the United States can finally fulfill its manifest destiny: full control over North America. Not Europe. Not Asia. Not Africa. Just America—the Promised Land that God gave to the American people.
When America renounces global empire, when it rejects global interference, when it returns to its Republican soul—then it will be great again.
Trump’s mission is to lead the people in that revolution.
Now, let’s examine Benjamin Netanyahu.
For Netanyahu—and for many religious Zionists—the golden age of the Jewish people was the Kingdom of David, around 3,000 years ago.
That was the era when Israel was unified, independent, and supreme in the Middle East. It was a time of peace and prosperity for Israel—and, they believe, for the world.
But after the fall of the Kingdom of David, everything changed.
First came the Assyrians and the Babylonians. They dismembered Israel.
Then came the Persians—under whom Israel became a vassal state.
Then the Ptolemies of Egypt. Then the Seleucid Empire.
The Jews rebelled against the Seleucids and briefly restored Jewish sovereignty under the Maccabees—but that didn’t last long.
The Romans arrived soon after.
The Romans were brutal. They killed many Jews. They exiled them from Jerusalem. They destroyed the Second Temple.
In the 7th century, the Islamic Caliphate allowed Jews to return to Jerusalem—but they still weren’t masters of their own land.
So the entire project of modern Israel is about restoring that ancient glory—the Kingdom of David.
Now, Netanyahu sees a historical opportunity to do exactly that.
But what stands in the way?
Two enemies: Iran and the United States.
If both can be drawn into a cataclysmic war and destroyed, then the path is clear for a restoration of the Kingdom of David.
Israel can once again be unified. All Jews can return. Israel can become a light unto the nations. This is the vision Netanyahu believes in. This is his divine mission.
But this raises a very important—and dangerous—question:
For the empire of Israel to be born, the empire of America must be destroyed.
So why would America allow this?

I think even if I list the following actual situations for you, you will still find some reasons for being an idiot to attack me.
Iran signed the S-300 procurement contract with Russia in 2007, but in 2010, the United Nations passed Resolution 1929, prohibiting the sale of missile systems to Iran. Russia therefore suspended the delivery.
After the Iran nuclear deal was reached in 2015, the United Nations sanctions were lifted, and Russia completed the delivery in 2016, not “delaying for 4-5 years”.
The S-300PMU-2 delivered was a relatively new model at that time, and its performance still has deterrent power to this day. Saying that it was “outdated at the time of delivery” lacks basis.
Russia’s sale of the S-400 to Turkey (signed in 2017) was the result of a geopolitical game: Turkey, as a NATO member, purchased Russian weapons to balance its relationship with the West, and at the same time, Russia used this to divide NATO.
Since Russia intervened in the Syrian civil war in 2015, it has always been a core supporter of the Assad regime. Its air strikes directly reversed the situation on the battlefield.
Russia did not allow Syria to use the S-300 to attack Israeli missiles because it needed to maintain the “de-escalation agreement” with Israel, rather than “cooperating with Israel”.

Although Biden chose to admit the above people, they were still illegal immigrants as far as the law was concerned.
Last, there were people even the Biden administration didn’t want to admit who were caught crossing the border or trying to come in through a port of entry. If they were Mexicans, they were sent back to Mexico. If they were from any other country, and there weren’t enough detention beds for them, they were released into the United States.
Detention facilities are still lacking. This will be addressed in the “great big beautiful” bill or by some other means.
In the meantime, Florida, in cooperation with ICE, will be opening “Alligator Alcatraz” in July, a 39-square-mile island in the Everglades for processing and detaining illegals, not just in Florida, but from all over the country. No need for fences or walls, because that job will be handled by the gators.
Trump has also instituted a self-deportation (in Europe, it’s called “remigration”) program, giving illegals $1,000 and a free plane ticket to leave the country. That’s the carrot. The stick is if they don’t leave and are caught and deported, they’ll be blacklisted and never allowed to legally immigrate to the United States.

While the missiles are certainly capable of destroying a US Navy ship, the problem is the same as it has been for at least 45 years (since the original Tomahawk ASM was deployed), and that problem is targeting. When a carrier is 400-500 miles off the coast, SOMEWHERE in tens of thousands of square miles, targeting is not a trivial problem, even discounting countermeasures.
