Israel’s largest oil refinery shut down due to Iranian missiles

Israel’s largest oil refinery, the Bazan complex in Haifa—which provides over half of the entity’s diesel and gasoline—was forced to shut down all operations yesterday following retaliatory Iranian missile strikes. The attack caused extensive damage to the facility.

At least three Israelis are reported to have died in the incident.

President Trump has very quickly followed up with even more bellicose and alarming statements directly threatening Iran, repeatedly using ‘we’ – as if the United States military is already directly involved in the ratcheting war.

Trump is now suggesting that Israel and the US could go all in until there’s nothing short of “unconditional surrender!”…

Every single strike video released thus far from Israel shows footage from a UCAV or surveillance recon drone cam. The only videos of strikes Israel has shown were on a small handful of ancient Mim-23 Hawks, short-range Karmin-2, and the short-medium range Khordad systems. Nothing like the S-300-equivalent Bavar-373 has been attritioned at all, though Israel “claims” they have wiped out some made-up percentage of Iranian AD with zero substantiation.

There is no Israeli air supremacy: There has only been one single piece of footage I’ve personally seen that could indicate Israeli jets just barely skirted Iranian territory, wherein it looked like possible JDAMS were dropped on Kermanshah, which is just barely over 100km+ from the Iranian border: JDAMS typically have a range of 25-50km, though the JDAM-ER can do 75km+ but it’s uncertain if Israel possesses it. This strike could have represented Israeli jets getting a few miles over the border, but that’s about as far as they’re willing to go.

Israel is threatened by Iran and in a protracted conflict they lose. Their choices are to retreat and accept a more powerful Iran with nuclear negotiating power, much like North Korea, or confront Iran attacking before nukes are well established. Left alone, Iran, like North Korea will nuke up, and so the question is: do we stand by and allow them to or intervene and weaken them? To avoid an escalating war, I think Israel should accept that Iran is nuclear capable and Iran already has the ability to wipe them out if it was not worried about being destroyed itself. Iran should be treated like North Korea. A belligerent country whom we don’t want to agitate. We need to accept Iranian power and keep our distance. If they use their nukes, then take them out.

I have neither the time, energy, space or interest to even think about getting a dog, and plenty of bad experiences with dogs to support that. My late sister had bones broken when one of her big dogs knocked her down, and my niece was bitten in the face by the family’s pet dog. Twice I’ve seen TV personalities get bitten in the face by dogs up for adoption that they were trying to cuddle.

I should mention too the German Shepherd that tried to bite my face, or the many tragic stories I’ve read about people getting killed by (sometimes their own) pit bulls.

i guess we just have a different way of looking at the subject, i tend to judge a man by his actions and whether those actions help the average citizen. this is why i hold both putin and xi in such high esteem, they are reshaping the world for the better and the mask has completely fallen off of the perfidious hegemon and can never be replaced.

i never thought i would see such incredible changes in the world. i despise our zog government and it’s shabos goy lackeys. unlike putin and xi, all of their actions harm their people, destroying their futures and selling them into debt slavery. there’s nothing fancy here, no elaborate subterfuge, they don’t even try to hide it.

Let’s imagine Iran already secretly has nukes, and has yet come out about them because it is trying to build up a supply. They have to know that if they used one of them it would be like a murder/ suicide, and not a very smart move. Adult children estranging themselves from their parents is a very common phenomenon these days, unfortunately. Sometimes it’s a psychologically healthful choice that an emancipated child will make to distance himself from abuse that his parent is not interested in stopping. In other cases, the child will make the statement along the lines, “I didn’t ask to be born. I owe you nothing. You decided to produce offspring to gratify your own ego. I don’t have time in my life for you, and no interest. Do not contact me again.”

Adult children who have children themselves are — from what I’ve heard from others — somewhat less likely to do that to their own parents, or they try to reconcile with their parents from whom they estranged themselves while they were childless. That’s because there is nothing in this world like holding a baby in your arms, and feeling an overwhelming, protective love unlike anything you’ve ever felt before. And even when that child grows up, all those precious memories, and that continuing protective concern for their welfare, do not go away. Those heart-pulls towards my adult daughter (who has estranged herself— for the third time — from her dad and me) continue to bubble up, and then I pray for her, and ask God to help me to continue to have a joyful, productive life anyway. Back when the pain was fresh and raw, the sobs racked my body. The pain for her dad is something he still can’t talk about it with me.

That is why I think adult children are a bit less likely to do that to their parents: an adult who has experienced for himself that primal mother-love or father-love for a child, whose top-of-the-list imaginable horror is the loss of that child, will be rather less likely to inflict that pain on another human being, even if the relationship has had its rocky times. But I assume your son, being in a Hassidic community, does have children of his own already (MORE descendants to be anxious about!) Hassidism used to be attractive to me (all that dancing!) but as I’ve seen how they treat people outside Hassidism (especially Palestinians) I see how cultish they are. Probably the worst thing your son can imagine is grand-dad convincing the kids to move out of the cult. Also, when a parent has had mental illness that the kid observed when the child was too young to understand (“it must be my fault if mommy or daddy is yelling and crying”) that’s something that needs to be addressed in counseling, and is most completely healed when Jesus Christ is invited in to talk about those dark, formative memories. I’m praying that happens for your three and mine, right now. Amen!

Oh, sorry Michael Korn, I got mixed up and confused the letter you wrote to your step-mother Carol with the letter your brother wrote to you. I guess Carol doesn’t sound like too much of a wicked step-mother, that is, as step-mothers go, because at least, by asking you to pray, she’s acknowledging you have a relationship with God, which is way more credit than your own Jewish blood relatives in Israel give you. Like so many Jews, though, she stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the suffering of any of Israel’s victims.

I don’t want to get in to a tussle with Ariadna, who has written insightful and often funny comments elsewhere— but I don’t know why she assumed that this letter to your step-mother was your first attempt at trying to get her to see things from the Palestinians’ point of view. Maybe the only Zionists Ariadna has interacted with are the Hasbara trolls online; if she had real life friends or family who lean even only slightly Zionist because of half-baked truisms like “America’s greatest ally in the Middle East” or “God will bless those who bless Israel,” she would know it can take months or even years of patiently chipping away at their resistance to hear the truth, before they are won over.

As for me, Michael Korn, I don’t think you are a troll, and I’ve put your ambivalence over the years about Israel down to two things:one, that you have children living in Israel and two, occasional flare-ups of mental illness (that you’ve been open about) that can really affect one’s ability to think and express oneself reasonably.

You do look into things deeply, and you present interesting material (still haven’t had a chance to get to most of it yet.) I think people on Unz are sometimes so terrified of being labeled “a troll” that they are reluctant to post questionable material and ask the other commenters, “Huh. There’s much I could say in response to your thoughtful comments. But this is not the appropriate forum. But lest you think too negatively of my kids in Israel I should explain that most of the estrangement is due to me. I was divorced from their mom when they were very young. She remarried quickly a prominent member of a rival Hasidic group. He ended up adopting my kids and they carry his last name.

And … what a long strange trip it’s been! I hadn’t realized your break with Zionism came before your conversion to Christianity… but yes, it makes sense that observing at close range the radicalized ways of some of your Breslov brethren would’ve been strong motivation to part ways. The shock of encountering Christian Zionists after you returned to the U.S. would’ve been multiplied by your experience of the contempt with which Christianity is held by the land-grabbers (euphimized as “settlers”) in Israel. And I can understand why the presence of Christian Zionism would make you want to stop attending church. I had thought that the ACNA church you’d been attending was free of that. Having campaigned for Ron Paul in a somewhat “out-in-front” capacity, I know I’ve been the target of “special treatment” from the TSA, etc. Still, I’m careful enough about my identity to avoid having random kooks who read what I write online track me down— suffice it to say various neighborhoods in various states will be considered “LDS Central” by the locals. As for details I share about my adult kids online, it’s all general enough to safeguard their privacy and identity as well, but I don’t feel any particular compunction against describing how their actions have affected my husband and me. Oak Park, same thing. At first, Oak Park was an “upper middle class” place for Jews. Then the rich upwardly mobile Jews 50 yrs ago, went on to Bloomfield Hills, Franklin, and, even earlier, Huntington Woods.
