Satisfaction and frustration most accurately capture what should be America’s reaction to last month’s Israeli-U.S. military strikes on Iran.

Satisfaction because the raids, particularly against the nuclear-weapons program, may have achieved what decades of illusion, naïveté, misguided diplomacy and inadequate economic sanctions failed to achieve, and frustration because the strikes were terminated early and unnecessarily.

It remains to be seen if Washington has learned enough of a lesson to complete the destruction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, by military means if necessary. As on many previous occasions, Iran has announced that it will cease cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, demonstrating that there is currently no serious chance of a satisfactory diplomatic solution.

The early signs are mixed and opaque. Much depends on the stability of the ayatollahs’ regime and its internal divisions, and whether Iran’s population will publicly express its discontent.
Unfortunately, the opposition in Iran, while national in scope, is not well organized, and the regime’s potential for brutal repression has been repeatedly demonstrated. Much also depends on whether America’s leaders have the necessary resolve, focus and persistence — a matter in considerable doubt.

Israel made a number of miscalculations in its approach to Iran which severely undermined its chances of success.

Israel has been making TOO many miscalculations since Oct 7th. First it branded the Palestinian outbreak of that day as terrorism. But then proceeded to respond in a way that has totally alienated it on the global stage.

Any person can certainly see that terrorism is a method of fighting used by the weak who recognise that they cannot confront the power of the state directly. That’s why I still wonder to this day how America could declare a war on “Terror”. That’s like America saying it is declaring war on “conventional” or “guerilla” warfare.

What makes terrorism distinctive from other forms of warfare is that it does not seek its goals through its own actions but through the response of the government to its acts. Thus, where military or revolutionary violence is used to achieve a physical result, terrorism seeks to achieve a psychological one. The raid on Oct 7th did exactly that. It punctured Israel’s perception of its sense of security.

This forced Israel to respond in an extremely barbaric and inhumane way that has now made it a pariah state. In fact should another Oct 7th occur from nearby Egypt, Jordan or Syria, no one will sympathize with the jewish state.

In short, the terrorist’s strategy is to provoke overreach and thus give the government in power a rope with which to hang itself. And Israel’s response did exactly that.

I might be mistaken. But if Israel indeed saw Oct 7th as an act of terrorism, it should have responded in a way that was not only measured, but that also took into account the political and philosophical basis of terror because terrorism as a strategy will win or lose depending on how a government responds to its provocations.

I honestly expected Israelis with their “exceptional intelligence” to understand that terrorism wins only when a state responds in the way the terrorist wants it to. And to recognize that should a government choose to respond in a way the terrorist does not desire or expect, then terrorism falls flat on its face. In other words the choice is always with the government, and that is the weakness of terrorism as a strategy for political struggle. A government can avoid doing what terrorists want it to do, and if it does that, terrorism fails.

Israeli war planners also grossly undervalued Iran’s impressive ballistic missile capability which exceeds Israel’s dated arsenal and ranks among the best in the world.

Another gross miscalculation. Israel overestimated its capacity to defeat Iran and underestimated Iran’s ability to retaliate and inflict unprecedented damage.

They therefore mobilised less iron dome missiles than was necessary to defend against incoming missiles. It looks like Israel got too comfortable in lying to itself that it’s God’s chosen state and since God neither slumbers nor sleeps, Iran’s missiles wouldn’t penetrate jewish airspace.

The Israelis also assumed, quite wrongly, that the Persian public is tired of the IRGC and would happily welcome the decapitation strikes of June the 13th. Instead this miscalculation ended up working in favor of the IRGC and rallied people around the flag.

Also Israel considers itself as part of the west. In western cultures isn’t Friday the 13th supposed to be a day of bad luck? So, why did they choose to strike Iran on such a day?

Nothing has been more crippling to Israel than this constant underestimation of their opponent. Now they’ve totally lost deterrence, boom boom Tel Aviv is a trending hit and their victimhood status is forever torn to shreds.

Speaking of underestimating your opponent, this is exactly the experience I read about the boxer Joe Louis’ first match against German’s Max Schemeling in 1936. It will not break Iran. Iranians certainly will have procedures in place to carry out retaliatory strikes against Israel. They can’t reach US, but all restraints will come off, and they will hit everything in Israel: no holds barred.

It’s happened to me personally, and it is now happening all across the the USA, where anyone who publicly criticizes the genocide in Gaza is being attacked personally, to the point of careers being wrecked and people being deported.

You really don’t think this will affect how Jews in general are viewed and treated? Because, in the past, people have never, ever reacted to this sort of thing by, say, killing a whole lot of Jews? Because we goyim are such dumb yokels that we will put up with it forever and never lash out in kind?

Well, dream on then! Why should I care what happens to all of you if you choose to live in a fantasy?

But you just might try asking yourself: why have Jews been so widely hated?

There must be some reason, doncha think?

Iran failed when it agreed to a truce that it knew was done to give Israel a breathing space and buy more time for the next assault. If an attack that Israel did was done on it, Israel would not stop its retaliation till the attacking nation is leveled down and smashed to smithereens.

Iran had the support of the world to carry out such an action, and should have made it clear that unless Prime Minister Netanyahu pleads for unconditional surrender, the retaliations will continue. Now Iran faces a nuclear attack and a country that denies its defeat.
